Yay – I am excited…

August 31, 2006

Next Saturday the 09th I am off to a crop in Pukekohe…yay, I have been trying to get to a crop there since last November but with being pregnant, a 1 car family and having a new born and lots of other things i haven’t been able to make it.  Well, yay next saturday i am off.  Richard is on call but is going to drop me off about 10.00am and all going well i will probably stay there until about 2 or 3.  Karen are you coming up for this crop?

What else, well we were looking forward to going down to Hamilton on Sunday for Richard’s neice’s 3rd birthday afternoon tea but they are an engineer down in Wellington as Dave down there has hurt his back so Adrian is down there now until Monday which means Richard will be on call until next Monday and have 4 nights off and then on call for another week.  This will then mean though that we will get 2 weeks off call including 2 weekends.

I have been reading the latest Up to Scrap and noticed that their submission dates are really great so I think i may try submitting at least 1 thing for each issue and see how we get on.  The next submission date is Sept 20th for their November Magazine, so i am off to have a think and see what i can do on one of their subjects.  Wish me luck.

I may have organised someone to do our music for the wedding, not a DJ at the moment but someone that i used to deal with while a Travel Agent.  I will let you know once we have confirmed anything as they are really busy at the moment and may be away overseas but they are hoping that they will be back.  Watch this space.  That reminds me i really must update the Wedding Budget Spreadsheet and see just how we are doing.  I am a bit scared at the moment to do it but I have a feeling actually that we are doing well.

for helping me work out that for some silly reason hers and Michelle’s messages weren’t all coming through and being reported as spam.  Well, hopefully that is now all sorted.

I received my CC06 kits on the courier this morning along with Elise Flannigan’s new book.  52 Scrapbooking challenges.  From what I have read so far it looks great.  I am going to try and do at least 1 challenge a week.  I have also decided that in the next year or so I am going to start submitting work and entering competitions.

Just a short message this morning but will write a long Post this afternoon.  Have an awesome day everyone.

Thanks Tinks

for reminding me to to a post for today.  I knew that you girls would keep be on the straight and narrow.  Today has been very slow.  Ignore that list from yesterday as I am feeling rotten not flu like just run down and have got nothing done on the list.  I will try again tomorrow.  Richard was on standdown becuase of callouts last night so didn’t have to start work until 1.30 so we were able to go out to Coffee Group in Pukekohe.  It was great to catch up with everyone.  I can’t believe how fast all the kids are getting.

Nothing much else to report but thank you everyone for leaving messages and David and Richard will both be helping me draw 2 names next tuesday.

Rak Time ……

August 29, 2006

I keep seeing these on people’s blogs and was going through everything in my semi studio in the last few days and have 2 boxes of goodies to give away to 2 people that read my blog.  It will be interesting to see just how many people read my blog.  I am guilty of being one of those people that read blogs but don’t leave comments very often so i am trying to leave a comment with every blog that I read from now on if possible…so come on everyone, lurkers, those that leave comments leave me a comment over the next 7 days and i will draw out 2 names and send you off your box of goodies.

What have we been up to?  In the process of trying to find a DJ/Band for the wedding and then once we have that booked and the cake finalised it will only be continuation things to do as everything will be booked.  Just trying to upload a pic of an idea that we have for the cake that we want. Like this but with roses on it.  Our colour scheme is ivory, silver and a deep burgandy.

Can’t wait to see everyone and catch up with everyone over the wedding.

Luckly the weather held out this arvo as David and I have been out for a walk down to the dairy.  I am so unfit I really have to get this weight off and fitter….Though as i type this the weather is getting worse and the grey clouds are rolling in.

Things to do tomorrow – Thanks for the idea of lists of things to do on your blog Tinks

1. Finish Glam Gals Circle Journal

2. Start on Cards for Card Swap

3. Type up recipies for Desert Swap – decide which ones to make and photograph

4. Ironing

5. Lounge, Dining rooms and kitchen tidy

6. Bathrooms

I am sure that there are heaps of other things but I will add onto to tomorrows list when i think of them.

Keep those comments coming in and i will draw like i said 2 names next Tuesday.

It has been a lovely day today, not that nice a weather this morning but this afternoon has been great.  David woke up crying at what i thought was 7.00am this morning so went in and put his light on and strung up his toys and then came out to the lounge/dining area to put the heater on to warm the house up to find that it was actually just before 6am…Oh well, an early morning for the 2 of us.  Richard we left asleep in bed as he has been on call all weekend and out and about on calls.  When Richard got up he ordered a part and we all had breakfast..David fell asleep in Richard’s arms and then off he went for his morning nap about 8.45…Well that nap lasted 3 1/2 hours which was amazing and great.  Don’t know when that will happen again.  While david was asleep and Richard was out I managed to get some house work done, catch up on email and blog reading and scrapbooking and the continuation of our Glam Gals Circle Journal.  Not too much to do.

This afternoon we ventured out to the local Mega Centre and went to briscoes and then up to the plastic box where i got some more scrapbook storage which I really do need desperatly.  Then off to Mitre 10 Mega and new garden tools for me and a few other things among which was a voucher for Richard’s dad for Father’s Day.  Grabed Sub Way and then home for a late lunch.  While the boys curled up together and watched the Rugby which we videoed this morning I ventured into the Vege Garden.  Actually I can’t call it that at the moment as it is probably more a giant and i mean giant weed patch…Have decided that David and i can venture out to the garden each day this week if it is nice and while i garden and weed he can play in his mountain buggy…I have before we came down to Wellington purchased some seed raising mix and seeds so want to get those all planted this week.  I want us to have a thriving garden of veges, chilies and herbs this year.

Richard’s nephew Jonathan who is 7 is going to probably come up for the first week of the school holidays which will be great.  It is the first time staying with us by himself as he has never really wanted to stay with anyone other than Mummy and Daddy and his grandparents in Hamilton.  It will be great as he will be able to play with 5 year old Liam next door.

Mum is also going to come up the first week of October from Katikati for a visit along with going out and finding her an outfit for the wedding.  Talking about weddings we are off to meet the lady that is going to be doing our Wedding cake this coming Saturday.  She is from www.forheavenscake.co.nz  I saw her cakes and had a wee taste at the Bride and Groom Show so that will be great.  She does amazing work.  So once we sign with her it will be just the DJ to orgainse and then final details.  Coming down to Wellington in October for my first dress fitting with Jo so must lose that weight.  Off for my appointment with Nikki Hart on 06th September.  Must remember that from this Thursday I have to keep a total food diary including anything liqiud or food that passes these lips of mine and take that in with me.

Okay – I have now got an Ellison Machine, well actually about 3 months ago and have decided to sell my Sizzix machine, converter, brand new Sizzix cutting boards and a couple of dies and Simple Impressions so if you are interested or know someone that might be that doesn’t read my blog please let them know to get in contact with me.

Well must be off but I am getting better at daily blogging.  If you think that I am starting to get lazy just let me know…

Have a lovely week everyone and remember “Live your Passion”

I have been thinking this morning about the cool things that i have gotten from Scrapbooking after reading Nic’s blog this morning.  I have found wonderful friends who i would not have come in contact through other areas as we are spread out all over this wonderful country.  I have found people that totally inspire me not just in scrapbooking, but as a mother, a wife and in life in general.  I have found that I can help others be happy or help them to remember times in their lives when otherwise they could have been very hard to get through….That i can tell stories and prerserve memories and stories for people in the years to come to remember.  To think about myself and not always others first…that i am important and deserve to live that passion in my life that i want to.  To scrap about myself, my thoughts, feelings, goals and stories that i never previously thought were important. I challenge you all that read this to blog about the things that you have received from scrapbooking… Well, i managed to accomplish alot yesterday.  I have started my Glam Gals circle jornal and just have to finish off the title and introduction page along with my page for it.  David is being babysat by Cherly this afternoon so i will get some things sent off in the post, some house work done and some scrapping done as well….I want to finish off my circle journal today and then get started on my desert recipie swap and card swap. Tomorrow morning I am hoping to catch up with one of my bridesmaids and find out about a new job that she has just got.  Scrapping, supermarket shopping and general housework to be done.  I like what you do Janine sometimes and put a list up on your blog in the morning of the things that you need or want to do…A good way to be held accountable for it. Okay to here goes Vaccuming, Washing, Ironing, Finish Circle Journal, Post things to Nikki and Kate, baking and work on Ben’s scrapbook Ben is only 5 days old and was born at 3.00am Sunday morning 12 weeks prem.  I have met his mum rebecca through the Treasures website about 9 weeks ago and have become good friends.  They are up in Waikato Hospital and she has no family or friends up there as her hubby, kids and friends are 2 1/2 hours drive south…

Future Goals

August 23, 2006

Well, in the last 10 days or so I have been really thinking about my future goals.  In the next 2 weeks I have to resign from my old job that I am currently on Maternity leave from.  I want to be a SAHM and while we can afford it i want to continue it.

But one of my goals that i have had for ages is for Scrapbooking not to be just a hobby but to be able to help inspire others along with, submitting layouts, making scrapbooks for others.  I am going to make this dream a reality.  It is going to take a while but it is what i want.  Scrapbooking has become a real passion of mine and i want to live my passion.  We are going to be selling this house in the next 12 -15 months and want to buy some where with a little more land.  Idealy a 4-5 bedroom house with a huge double garage or outside detached area that I can convert into a big Scrapbooking studio.  Which will help me into another goal which is having Scraping Parties, RNS and becoming a Kiwi Scraps Consultant.  If I was in Wellington i would sooo be volentering to do the Parties that David has advertised for someone to do.

I thought if I have it here in writing for you all to see you can keep me on track.  A goal that i can achieve before we buy our new place is making Scrapbooks for the NICU department at Middlemore Hospital/Kids First here in Auckland.  When your bubs is born and is in NICU they give you an excercise book to use as a diary.  I want to be able to make up kits for them to make this easier for them.

So what do you all think?

CC06 Continuation

August 23, 2006

Sorry for taking so long to come back to this.  Smack on the hand i am a bad blogger.  Didn’t feel very well yesterday so had near no energy so just took it easy and didn’t feel like blogging.

Okay here goes…Friday night came by and all the Glam Girls finally met each other.  A big thank you to Gwenda who helped me put the last little touches on our decorations and little gift bags.  Also to Kate who made up our little name tags for the table.  A huge Thank you goes to Jo aka Tiggercat for organising everyone’s seating and doing a great job.  Gwenda, Nikki and I got ready in our room and then off down to Linda and Kate’s room.  Once Janine and Michelle arrived we all head down stairs and met up with Jo, Donna, Gina and Maureen…More new friends yay….We all had an awesome time at the mega crop and i will tell you this some firm friendships have been cemented.  I will upload pics when i can.

Saturday morning after waking a few times in the night David is starting to feel better.  Richard took him along to the docs yesterday who was great and he is now on Pamol and Carval on a tissue at night.  We decided to see how he was feeling latter on in the day as to whether he would still go over to Derek and Jo’s for Bj to look after him for the night while we went out.  This morning I had Photo Decor with Donna and that was awesome…I have always wanted to know how to do these.  I also finally learnt how to use Modge Podge…Next class was Donna’s Imagine the Possibilties which I feel i did really well with and we have a stairway shot looking down at the Intercon reception.  I poped upstairs at lunch time to check on my boys and David was looking heaps better…Richard is awesome looking after David like he is…I went down stairs determined in my mind that i had Nic’s today you class but suddenly realised down there when i could find the class and re looked at my tickets that I actually had Ali’s class which was great.  I finally learnt how to decorate albums with the spiral bounds on them as i could never work it out actually how to put the spirals back on.  I learnt heaps of new tequniques which was great.  The next class i am sooo glad that i was able to get into.  Just before lunch on the Saturday i had a chat to Mary and Joanne and Mary said I could get into Cathy’s Simple Life Class if I didn’t mind not getting a Pack and paying $35.00.  I didn’t mind at all and did a happy dance.  Looking back now I am sooo glad i did this class as I am looking at my scrapbooking in a whole new light and now know that i need to tell more stories.  I walked out of this class soooo inspired and couldn’t wait to get into it all and can’t wait…I am having a blast.  Since then I have also purchased 2 D Ring binders in are you ready for it 8.5 by 11 size…yep i have set myself a new challenge and am going to do alot more scrapbooking and get my mojo back and work with this size….Saturday night was great at Dinner with lots of laughs and great to catch up with Derek and Jo as just the four of us.  David took awhile to get off to sleep but Bj did an awesome job.  When we finally got back to the room after catching up with Ali and Cheryl down at the bar we decided to order room service desert and then fell into bed oh sooo tired…

Sunday arrived and after breakfast headed off to Nic’s Two of Us class where i was def taken out of my comfort zone by cutting out the middle of paper sheets to use that afterwards…Not something i have ever really done much.  Only once or twice that i can remember but love the final layout and Nic as i have said before inspires me with her scrapping.  Next class was another challenge for me.  It was Wendy’s Stich It, Bead It, Slap it on a Canvas.  Now you are probably wondering why this was another challange for me.  Well for 3 reasons.  i have never Scraped on canvas before, i have never used beads and I haven’t stiched for ever…Well another class to use modge podge and i am very very pleased with the final product.  I was going to do this on myself but just after midday we got a txt to say that I am an Aunty Again.  Judith gave birth just before 11.00am to a beautiful little girl named Katherine Paige (just had to say to Jac’s that same one liked her nic name Paige so much that they had used it – lol)  After the class Jo and I rushed upstairs to see the pxt that had been sent to my phone….awww what a cutie…

Last classes of the day were Ali’s Perspectives and Favourite Photos class – very very inspiring and had a great time…wow and then that was the end of CC06 – What an inspiring awesome time and i really really can’t wait for CC07.  i am still on cloud 9 nearly 10 days latter and am sooo loving this thing called scrapbooking again which I had totally lost my mojo and inspiration on for sooo long….

A Thousand Appologies!!!!!!

August 20, 2006

Hi Everyone, a thousand appologies for my very very slack blogging…I was going to do a little blog each day while in Wellington but the internet charges were huge and as it is over the 9 days we were there i spent about $80.00 on Internet Charges….

Thanks to Lynda B who keeps on reminding me that she is getting really sick of reading the same blog entry over and over again.  So here goes and this is going to be a long one.

Wow, wow and hey did I say wow, i am still on cloud 9 about CC06.  It was awesome and I am so totally inspired.  Along with the CC06 classes I met and made some absolutly amazing new friends with the  “Glam Gals”.  We totally rocked didn’t we!!!  Hee, hee.  Our trip down to Wellington started on the Sunday prior to CC06 with a stop in hamilton over night to help Richard’s mum celebrate her 70th birthday.  Judith, Richard’s sister was due the first day of CC06 and just wanted to have the baby as soon as possible.  Mum was so excited that she may have it the next day which was her birthday that even before Midday she had called Judith 4 times asking her if anything had started happen.  Nothing happened.  Monday morning we drove down to Taupo and after stopping at a lovely little cafe and grabbing some stuff at the local PNS went to our Motel.  On Wotif it said it was 4 Star and was right next door to the Melinium, well put it this way it was tiny for a 2 bedroom and I really wished i had booiked the Mellinum next door instead.  At dinner that night we went next door and there were 5 female waitresses and David did his full on flirting thing and had them all over to the table one by one and just loved every minute of it.  They all even had to come and say good bye and give him kisses at the end of the night.  He also attracted the attention of a couple next door to us who offered to hold him while we ate.  David loved the lady but wasn’t too sure about her husband as he looked like Daddy but had no fuzz on his face…Hee hee

Tuesday we started to head down to Wellington and with the help of texts from Jo (tiggercat) we found out that the desert road was closed and drove through National Park….After a few stops along the way and David sleeping most of the day we arrived at our home for the next 9 nights the Intercontinental at about 4.30.  Not bad for a 7 1/2 hour journey.

Over the next couple of days I had to arrange for the rest of our outfts to arrive in Wellington as i had half of them with me and they had forgotten about an email that i had sent to them and that they saw and sent everything else to me in Auckland so after a long process they arrived into Wellington on the Thursday morning.  I arranged to meet Glenda in the Hotel Lobby at 1.30 and we chatted while we waited for Lynda to arrive.  What a lovely person you are Glenda….Then i looked up and saw Lynda walking away from Recetpion and reconised her from her Forum pic and photos on her blog…Over she ran and gave me a huge hug and from that minute we were great friends.  And as she tells the story with in about 15 mins i was giving her stick.  I assure you that it was stick between us…hee hee…After coffee and a bite to eat we headed off to introduce Lynda to Kiwiscraps in person.  As she was a KS virgin…had never actually been to the shop i person only over the wonderful web.  We all had a great time and met a few more people that had arrived down for CC06.  Arrived back at the hotel and settled into some comfortable seats for a nice drink while Richard took David upstairs…That night Richard, David and I met up with Glenda and Lynda for dinner next door at Arizona and then headed back to our room..David was very very restless while there and then woke up at 2.00am Friday morning and between then and about 6.30am only had about an hour or soos sleep and Richard had him down in the lobby walking him around in the stroller so i could try and get some sleep for CC06.  Well he had weepy red eyes, feeling very yucky and was conjested and ended up having a bad cold…

My first day at CC06 consisted of Donna’s Freeze Frame Mini album, Nic’s Passport to Fun and then Donna’s one year, one album…Wow, wow, what a day.  Donna is truley awesome and had an awesome time.  She had a wicked sense of humor and once she realised who i was as in the person that sent her and ali and cathy some pre nz goodies she would yell out Debbie Payne…Nic is great and such a wonderful tutor…Just loved all the classes that we did that day…

I will finish this off latter today as I have sooo much to say and going to try and work out again how to upload pics…
